We truly have so much to celebrate this holiday season, but it’s certainly been a long road. For almost the past two years, the rest of the world experienced the loneliness that vulnerable seniors experience every day. We have all endured so much since the start of the pandemic, and I am so grateful for the resilience and commitment we’ve seen from everyone at Seniors Helping Seniors, Greater Boston & Metrowest. Together, we have all played a critical role in providing respite and relieving social isolation, by providing warm and friendly help as trusted confidants, committed no matter the extreme obstacles.
Because of this, 2021 has been busier than ever, leading us to hire more office staff and bring on even more caregivers. I am also so proud to share the following well-deserved promotions; Jan Klein to Associate Executive Director, Lisa Graffeo to Director of Human Resources, and both Marie Long and Rachel Polcaro to Senior Client Care Coordinators.
In 2021, our team connected in person and virtually through support groups, we laughed and cried at movie nights, enhanced our dementia education through countless trainings, and got our steps in while raising more than $13,500 to date for the Greater Boston Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
We ended the year on a high note with a fully-vaccinated staff holiday party and our recent recent Top Place to Work Award. And I believe we have truly carved our niche in the caregiving space, as not only an agency that employs high caliber caregivers and companions, but as one that leads with compassion and empathy. I couldn’t be more proud of all that we’ve accomplished, and while we may be hunkering down a bit these next few weeks, I still look ahead to 2022 with pure excitement.
