What is Day Trippers?
The Day Trippers Program is a unique, first-of-its-kind program offering that blends Seniors Helping Seniors companion care model with a new opportunity to engage with peers in their community, in a structured and casual setting. Our small groups are comprised of 3 participants and 1 staff member.
Here's How It Works
The Day Trippers Program operates
Tuesday – Friday from 10AM – 3PM.
Each day includes:
Lunch: gathering for a meal at a neighborhood restaurant
Purposeful Activity: This may include a trip to a museum, a daytime concert, a volunteer opportunity or a friendly game of cards
Physical Activity: Whether it’s taking a stroll in the park, dancing to live music or participating in a senior fitness class, we ensure everyone stays active
Pickup and drop-off: For convenience, pickup and drop-off take place at the same time and central location each day
Minimum requirement of 2 days participation per week.

- Seniors Living with Early Stage Dementia: Designed for individuals who can benefit from structure and a renewed sense of purpose

Day Trippers FAQs:
What is the Day Trippers Program?
Day Trippers offers a preplanned program (Tuesday – Friday) from the hours of 10AM – 3PM. Full day weekly participation is required with a minimum of 2 days attendance per week. However, we welcome participants to enroll for 2, 3 or 4 days of programming.
Each day is carefully curated and designed to incorporate: lunch, a purposeful activity and a physical activity.
Does the Day Trippers Program offer transportation to/from my home?
While we do not provide transportation to/from your home, pickup and drop-off will be at the same time and place each day at a central location.
If transportation is an obstacle for you, we would be happy to speak to you about the other services Seniors Helping Seniors offers.
What types of activities and outings are included in the program?
The Day Trippers Program is designed to get seniors involved in their communities. Each day is carefully designed to foster community, connection and purpose. We do this by creating social and engaging activities and outings such as: museums, parks, senior centers, libraries and volunteer opportunities. Each day lunch is enjoyed at a variety of local restaurants.
What are the requirements to participate?
All participants of The Day Trippers Program must be able to:
- Engage in conversations with peers
- Accept direction from staff members
- Eat, ambulate and toilet independently
- Comply with all safety procedures
What will my group look like?
Each Day Trippers program group consists of 3 participants and 1 staff member. Groups may be all-male, all-female or co-ed. We strive to ensure that participants feel comfortable and are paired with others who are like-minded.
